Cambridge Academy provides an individualized curriculum for all students, recognizing that each child is unique and special with differing talents and gifts.  Our classrooms are cheerful and nurturing, with hands-on activities that encourage creativity, exploration and learning.

Cambridge Academy provides early language experiences that enable our Pre-kindergarten students to successfully prepare for later school successes.  Our curriculum focuses on age-appropriate literacy through a phonics-based approach.  Oral language skills provide the framework for successful reading experiences.  Positive reading experiences that help develop the joy of reading, an understanding of reading as a means of communication, and phonological skill development, combine to enable our young students to successfully progress toward pre-reading and reading goals.

Some of the goals for our Cambridge Academy pre-kindergarten students include:

Recognizing the alphabet both in and out of order

Matching letters to their sounds

Identifying letter sounds in words

Identifying some high-frequency words

Writing their first and last name

Demonstrating an understanding of print that is read aloud

Attempting to read and write independently.

Using oral language to communicate successfully with an ever-increasing vocabulary.

Math and science concepts, as well as emotional and social skills are developed through theme-based activities.  Large group and small group activities are planned to provide a variety of hands-on experiences.

Some of the goals for our Cambridge Academy Pre-kindergarten students include:

Increasing knowledge of numbers, their relationships and the operations of mathematics.

Counting orally from 0-100

Writing numbers

Investigation of geometry and spatial sense, patterning, measurement, and the classification and collection of data.

Science and social studies as it relates to the child, their natural environment, and their community.

Art, music, computer education, Spanish instruction and outdoor play round out our Pre-kindergartens’ day, a day that is filled with fun learning activities designed to spark the interest of the maturing four-year old.
